Университет является крупным образовательным и научным центром в области техники искусственного холода и пищевых производств.
В настоящее время в университете обучается 5 тысяч студентов, более 150 аспирантов, стажеров и докторантов. Университет находится в исторической части Санкт-Петербурга, располагает развитой материально-технической базой и высококвалифицированными специалистами, позволяющими обеспечить высокий уровень подготовки специалистов и проведения научных исследований в области холодильной и криогенной техники, систем кондиционирования и жизнеобеспечения, пищевых технологий, оборудования пищевых производств, торговли, общественного питания, экологии и менеджмента.
В Университете имеются факультеты:
холодильной техники, техники пищевых производств, пищевых технологий, криогенной техники и кондиционирования, экономики и менеджмента, заочного обучения и экстерната, по работе с иностранными учащимися, повышения квалификации.
На факультете повышения квалификации проводится переподготовка руководящих и инженерно-технических работников с учетом последних достижений науки и техники по всем направлениям деятельности академии.
Университет имеет лицензии: Министерства образования РФ, Госгортехнадзора России, Государственного комитета РФ по жилищной и строительной политике, Государственного комитета по охране окружающей среды Санкт-Петербурга и Ленинградской области.

The University is the big education and scientific center in the field of artifice ice and foodstuff manufacturing.
At the present time at the University study 5.000 students, more then 150 aspirants, special students and candidates for a doctor's degree.
The University is situated at the historical part of St.-Petersburg, has a developed material and technical base and highly-qualified scientific pedagogical stuff making it possible to ensure high level of training of specialists and holding scientific research in the field of refrigerating and cryogenic technique, systems of conditioning and life-support, foodstuff technologies, equipment for foodstuff manufacturing, sale, public catering, ecology and management.
There are departments at the University:
refrigerating technique, technique for foodstuff manufacturing, foodstuff technologies, cryogenic technique and conditioning, economics, management, corresponding studying and extern studying, work with foreign students, improvements of qualification.
The training of bachelors and masters caries out on the following directions: power systems, technological machines and equipment, automation and operation, technology of foodstuffs, management. There is training of specialists with highest qualification (post-graduate course, doctoral courses) on 11 scientific specializations including thermophysics, molecular physics, physical physics, physical chemistry, technology of meet, dairy and fish products, biotechnology, refrigerating and cryogenic technique and conditioning systems machines and apparatus, materiallogy, processes and apparatus for foodstuff manufacturing etc. at the University.
The further training of managers, engineering and technical specialists, with appreciation of the newest achievements of science and technique, on all directions of activity of Academy caries out.
The University has the licenses: of the Ministry of Education, of the State Technical Control, of the State Committee of Building Policy, of the State Committee of Environment Protection of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region.
