Томский государственный университет - первое в Сибири высшее учебное заведение, которому в текущем году исполняется 120 лет со дня основания. Геологическое образование осуществляется в университете без малого 80 лет. Геолого-географический факультет является центром теоретических и прикладных геологических исследований.
15 января 1998 года Указом президента России 30 Томский госуниверситет был включен в Государственный свод особо ценных объектов культурного наследия народов Российской Федерации.
Tomsk State University is the first higher educational institution in Siberia which in the current year is celebrating its 120th anniversary. The University has been providing geological training for almost 80 years. The Department of Geology and Geography is the acknowledged scientific centre of theoretical and applied geological research.
On January 15, 1998, by Decree 30 of the President of Russia the Tomsk University was listed in the State Register of especially valuable objects of cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation.
