The Science & Technology Complex (STC) "Luch-Ceramics" is a unitary subsidiary of the State Research Institute of Science & Industry Association "LUCH" (SRI SIA LUCH). The STC "Luch-Ceramics" was founded in December, 1997. The enterprise retains its engineering and scientific potential, which has been acquired in developing a nuclear-powered jet engine and metaloptics for special-purpose lasers. The STC "Luch-Ceramics" specializes in conducting research work for and pilot production of articles from refractory ceramic and composite materials.
The enterprise posesses a whole set of manufacturing processes, methods and equipment for R&D, relating to new ceramic and semiconductor materials. Its site has the following key areas: powders; thermic; coating; finishing; hydrostatic pressing; welding; ceramographic and other type examination / test.
The STC "Luch-Ceramics" is effecting its efforts at the below directions:
- pilot production of processing parts from highly pure silicon carbide for high-temperature diffusion processes in microelectronics (BIC and SBIC manufacture);
- design of silicon carbide based containers to long store and dispose of radioactive waste;
- design of heat-exchangers for semiconductor laser diodes;
- creation of high-reflectivity mirrors based on ceramic compositions;
- development of filters for high-temperature corrosive media,
and others.
The staff is 110 employees, including 24 researchers, 1 doctor of science,
6 candidates of science.
