The firm founded in 1901 for motor boats construction is one of the oldest and reputed shipyards of the North-West of Russia. For the period of its activity more than 1000 military purpose and civil vessels were built here.
The firm is located in the central part of Saint Petersburg with free access to Gulf of Finland. Its territory is about 165 000 sq. m including 50 000 sq. m covered with well equipped workshops.
Production facilities provide building of aluminum and steel hulls and constructions, effective execution of outfitting works and organizing machinery and armament installation totally in workshops conditions.
In accordance with world market requirements "Almaz" Shipbuilding Company develops integrated conception of coastal zone guarding as well as elaborates transportation tasks decisions. For these purposes the enterprise produces civil high speed transport and special vessels. The firm suggests hovercrafts RYS and IRBIS projects as the unique solution of the problem of passenger and cargo transportation, equipment and supply delivery to the hard to access regions. The crafts of this type could be used in different climate zones, including permafrost and marsh-ridden areas, tundra and sandy regions that makes possible not to use expensive hilicopter services.
The production facilities of "Almaz" Shipbuilding Company enable to tailor high precision metal constructions. The shipyard successfully executed the contract with Russian Joint Stock Company "High Speed Railroads" on the carriages for the first Russian high speed train "Sokol" type. Since 1996 the quality system of the shipyard is certified by international standardization organization Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) in accordance with the international standard MC ISO 9001-94 ( 9001-96). In 1999 the shipyard quality system was successfully recertified.
Since 1998 the firm has the production certificate of Russian Maritime Shipping Register on execution of shipbuilding and shiprepairing works on the hulls, machinery, electricity and radio electronics.
