The Congress will be spread over 2 and half days and will proceed as follows:
- Day One, 15th November 2006, Wednesday
Focus on China and Hong Kong
China plans to invest a little more than US$200 billion by 2020 to expand its existing
rail network with all major cities involved in new projects. The Hong Kong government has
announced the planned terms for the merger between its 2 rail operators - what does this mean
for current and future projects. Day One will also feature airport rail links and will highlight
case studies - HK, Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok
- Day Two, 16th November 2006, Thursday
Day Two will feature presentations and case studies on railway operations, high speed and
maglev, LRT, safety issues, rollingstock and maintenance
- Day Three, 17th November 2006, Friday
Highlights of the 3rd day of the summit will feature papers and case studies in corporation,
restructuring, financing and legal issues
- 14th November 2006, Tuesday
Site Visit to Shenzhen Metro (to be confirmed)
