This autumn in Surgut will be held 24th International Specialized Exhibition "Surgut. Oil and Gas - 2019". And that is for good reasons.
Surgut is the largest city in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra. The city is an important oil-and-gas and electric power industries center of West Siberia.
On the flag of Surgut there is the black fox symbolizing large oil reserves in the region. The oil well, cutting the land across, is portrayed on the city's coat of arms.
Surgut's economy is tied to oil production and the processing of natural gas. The headquarters of large core enterprises, such as "Surgutneftegaz" and "Gazprom transgas Surgut", are located in Surgut.
The majority of the "black gold" through the pipeline system in a south-westerly direction transferred to Russia, Ukraine and Western Europe.
It accounts for about 13 per cent of oil production and 25 per cent of gas, obtained by petroleum companies in Russia. For many years, the enterprise "Surgutneftegaz" has been a leader in probe and exploitation drilling, putting new exploitation wells into service.
Every year the oil production increases. This is an important indicator of the region’s importance in Russian economic development.
