Every year, Hamburg Messe attracts about 700000 people from all over the world, with more than 40 of its own events and guest events, and a total of some 12000 exhibitors.
Its remarkable portfolio is based on Hamburg's strong industrial clusters. Events include SMM, the world's leading maritime industry fair; INTERNORGA, Europe's leading trade fair for the hotel and food service sectors; and other large-scale events such as hanseboot, the Hamburg International Boat Show. They are forums for innovation and communication, an international meeting place for decision makers and experts. Hamburg Messe also hosts major events for consumers and the general public, such as the travel show REISEN HAMBURG and HansePferd, the international exhibition for horse enthusiasts. These events attract a large audience to Hamburg with a wide range of products, services and high-quality supporting programmes. The Fair is also the venue for important guest events, for example for the aviation industry and for renewable energies.
HMC continues to build on this repertoire. It is adding new, innovative trade fairs such as COTECA, Europe's first international trade show for the coffee, tea and cocoa business; MS&D, international conference and exhibition on maritime security and defence hamburg; and the SMM overseas events in Istanbul and Mumbai.
Hamburg Messe is ideally located - the site in the heart of Hamburg is well structured, and benefits from ideal infrastructure. All the routes and connections are close together and logically arranged, making it easy for visitors, exhibitors and organisers to find their way around. Hamburg Messe is well connected, with two mainline rail stations, three S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations and a number of motorway access points. It is only a few minutes' walk from the Port, which is widely known as Hamburg's "Gateway to the World", and from the city centre with its excellent shopping facilities, the well-known Reeperbahn nightlife district, many hotels, and exciting trend districts.
Hamburg Messe has some 87000 square metres of hall space and 10000 square metres of outdoor exhibition space.
