Information about Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country. Its area is about 200,000 sq. km. 94% of territory is occupied by mountains. The mountains of Kyrgyzstan are the source of fresh water, energetic system, minerals, forest and agricultural products, places for rest and tourism. A huge amount of mineral waters matching the world standard analogs by their quality are presented in bowels of the mountains. Big areas of mountain pastures, soils of valleys, abundance of solar heat, watering and irrigation provide good conditions for the development of agriculture. Grain, cotton, beet, tobacco, fruits and vegetables are cultivated. The area of agricultural land comprises 10,6 mln. ha, of which arable land - 1,3 mln. ha, and more than 9 mln. ha of mountain pastures and hayfields.

Bishkek city (population about 1 mln.) - financial, cultural and educational centre of the country.

National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Agricultural Academy, Institute of Arable Farming and a number of other Academies, Universities and Institutes are located in the city.

Representation offices of more than 50 countries are opened. The Kyrgyz Republic is a member of international organizations - WTO, UN, UNESCO, OSCE, ECO, UNICEF, IMF, and OIC.
