"Over recent years Russia Building Week 2001 has succeeded in taking the part of an international centre of business activity in creating a solid construction market. I am sure this tradition will continue to exist. This is indicative of the real improvement both in the construction complex and in the national economy as a whole." A. Shamuzafarov, RF Governemental Committee for Construction & Housing Policy.

On 10-13 April, Russia Building Week 2001 took place and proved yet again to be the leading international building, construction and interiors exhibitions within Russia and the CIS. Incorporated under the umbrella of 'Russia Building Week' are 9 specialised exhibitions including Batimat Mosbuild, Heat*Vent Moscow, Hardware Moscow, Ceramic & Stone Moscow, Santechnika Moscow, Garden Russia, Interiors Moscow, Decotex, and Windows & Doors. All of the exhibitions took place at Krasnaya Expo Centre, while Windows & Doors Moscow was held for the first time at its own venue; the Olympisky Sports Complex from the 9-12 April.

This years event witnessed over 60,000 trade visitors coming to do business both in a domestic and an international capacity with over 1,000 exhibitors; a record number for the exhibition. Windows & Doors Moscow saw over 20,000 visitors, an outstanding figure considering this was the first year the exhibition was held in a separate venue. Visitors came from a variety of backgrounds including, architects, specifiers, distributors, retailers and agents.

Running alongside the exhibition was the Mosbuild Conference held at the Golden Ring Hotel from 11-12 April and was attended by 150 delegates. The event was sponsored by the 'Swedish giant' Skanska, ROSNO (a Russian insurance company) and DAICHI (distributor of Daikin devices in Russia). The conference benefited from the full support of Gosstroy of Russia and Moscow Government.

More than 30 countries participated at the exhibition, which included 10 national group stands including Finland, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Bavaria, Czech Republic, Spain and Italy. All national groups have confirmed their participation at next years Russia Building Week.
