Description
In 1908 Paris was the host city of the first road congress. The Permanent International Association of Road Congresses (PIARC), which was founded a year late, is the oldest among international organizations engaged in roads and roads engineering business. At those times the goal of the congress was communications between the countries with the aim to compare their experience in the field of road transport development. Today new tasks and problems are important for international road society: transport is the main consumer of scarce organic fuel and the source of pollutant emissions, still it is more and more in demand because of economic globalization. It is the very problem of steady development to which the congress of 2007 will be devoted, and in the end, responsibility to the consumers, population and
future generations. This event will be special because it marks centenary anniversary of PIARC founding after the first world road congress in Paris in 1908.
