"Fair Spas - 2019" exhibition news, 31-Jul-2019
Announce: The Transfiguration of Jesus celebration and the Saint Mitrofan Day will be held during the exhibition "Spas - 2019", which will take place on 18-21 August in Voronezh.
From 18 to 21 will be held an exhibition-fair "Spas - 2019", where will be presented beekeeping products, fruits, vegetables, fish and delicacies, products of cultural industries and handicrafts.
19 August - the Transfiguration of Jesus celebration, in which was revealed to people the divine glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. During a midnight pray on Mount Tabor apostles Peter, James and John saw their Teacher transformed. The face of The Saviour shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. A bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" (Matthew 17:5).
In Russia this celebration received a folk name "The Apple Feast of the Saviour", since this day after the worship service in the church a prayer "On consecration of the beginning of vegetables (fruits)" is read and grapes are consecrated, as well as apples and other ripe fruits of the new crop.
20 August - Saint Mitrofan Day, the first bishop of Voronezh, the patron Saint of land.
After liturgy on 20 August a traditional Mitrofano-Tihonovskii sacred procession will be set off, bringing together in a prayer procession all of the fellow countrymen from various cities and settlements. In the Religious Procession will participate not only residents of Chernozem but also pilgrims from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Arkhangelsk, Belgorod, Kursk and many other cities of Russia, near and far abroad.
